    Many people find themselves with a little bit of extra time on their hands during the summer. With the kids at school and many adults taking more vacation days, it’s important to stay busy to keep from getting bored.     1. Sammamish Concerts in the Park

    Since it first opened in 2010, the Sammamish Library has become a favorite spot for families in the area. Not only is the library full of both new releases and classic reads, but they also offer different classes throughout the week, including toddler reading times.

    3. Aquatic Center at Sammamish YMCA

    Be sure to cool off in the multiple swimming pools at the YMCA Aquatic Center. There are pools for expert swimmers, as well as kids who are just learning. With a lap pool, whirlpool and kid zone, there’s something for every member of the family.

    Take the kids to see some of their favorite animals at Cougar Mountain Zoo, which is located just 15 minutes from the city. The zoo features many unique attractions, including the Magic Forest and Wildlife Museum. Don’t forget to pick up a souvenir from the Wild Treasures Gift Shop.

    5. Pine Lake Park

    If the kids need to release some energy, then Pine Lake Park is the place to go. This park features designated areas for playing basketball, baseball as well as a children’s playground. The lake is also open for boating and swimming.

    With 83 acres of trees and greenery, Beaver Lake Park is a hotspot for those looking to take a nature hike. There are also plenty of picnic areas for families. The park is pet-friendly, with an off-leash dog park.

    Horse enthusiasts can enjoy a 1-2 hour guided trail ride with an equestrian expert at Equine Escapes. Located just outside Sammamish, WA, they provide relaxing horseback rides. Many of the horses were rescued.

    Anyone with kids knows that they love to climb, and they can practice their skills at Stone Gardens. This indoor climbing facility features 21,000 sq. ft. of climbing terrain. They offer courses for beginners, as well as rappelling for more advanced climbers.
